Split a day's hours across pay types

You can now tell us how your company classifies paid time, and say how much of each day goes to each classification.

Set your list up in Settings › Company › Pay types: Regular, Overtime, Double Time, or whatever your payroll uses. Each one has a name and a short code, and the switch at the top of that card turns the whole thing on. Leave it off and your timesheets carry on as they are.

Open a day on Insights › Timesheets and there is a Pay Types tab beside Check-in/out. Each check-in/out entry gets its own split: the entry's paid time, how much you have assigned so far, and how much is still missing. Type the hours against each type, or use + Fill to put the whole remainder on one of them. A nine-hour entry can be 8h Regular and 1h Overtime, which is the split payroll actually wants. It saves with the entry, so fixing a time and reclassifying it is one save.

Every day is assigned by a person. We never guess the split from the hours worked, because when overtime starts is your agreement to make, not ours.

A day with an entry that is not fully assigned says Missing Type in red on the grid, and Show errors only brings those days up with the rest of your errors.

The check-in/out export carries a column per pay type per day, in hours, in both the Excel and CSV downloads. Payroll can add the columns up instead of reading a split back out of one cell.

Retiring a type leaves your history alone. Deactivate it and it stops appearing on new days, while the days already using it keep it and keep exporting it. Rename a code and the days using it are updated to match.

If you pull time through our API, your list is readable there and each check-in/out record carries its split.
